The sanctuary of our homes has never been more important. And while it’s so glad to be back out in the world, visiting friends and actually wearing something other than sweats, it’s left us with a new-found appreciation for the comfort of our home base.

Decorating your home is a work in progress: your space inevitably transforms and evolves over time – much like your wardrobe. When it comes to keeping up with the latest interior design trends, sourcing affordable items is a must. Lucky for us, there are loads of budget-friendly and seriously stylish brands around to satisfy our love of modern décor and on-trend pieces.

Keeping a balance of affordable, on-trend pieces, sentimental items, meaningful collectibles, and luxury pieces that are worth the splurge is a process that takes time and commitment. When it comes to interior design advice, it’s no surprise we enlisted the help of a local expert. To keep up-to-date and ahead of the curve this year, we checked in with local design store specialist, Angela Frawley, from Designcraft in Fyshwick.

We asked Angela what item she recommends we invest in in 2021. “Lighting!” she told us. “So often, lighting is overlooked as the design afterthought. But good, thoughtful, considered lighting – that serves a purpose, is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing – is vital to the success of any interior setting.”

While we’re all about a statement light, (Angela loves the Verner Panton Flowerpot Table Lamp, from Designcraft) we’ve also found some gorgeous and timeless home décor pieces to add to the layers of your home. Scroll for our picks for interior buys this month.
