There’s nothing better than the long, warm days of summer. I am SO excited to be pulling out my floaty dresses and comfy sandals, imagining sand between my toes and the warm sun shining on my face. That’s what summer is all about.

Warm days call for fresh summer scents. While it’s not compulsory to mix your scents up with the seasons, I do enjoy pulling out my fresh scents in summer. Away go my warm and comforting woody scents, as much as I love them, and out come the fresh, floral and citrusy notes. And seeing as most of us experienced a different kind of summer holiday this year, why not treat yourself to a new scent and transport yourself to somewhere luxurious instead.

I’ve collated five of my favourite summer scents this year to help you mix up your fragrance wardrobe.

Gucci Bloom Profumo Di Fiori

If you love a combination of floral, woody and musky notes (basically a soft feminine scent, but not something that is going to choke you with sweetness) than this is the one for you. The new Gucci Profumo di Fiori heroes is a radiant twist on the original Bloom. With fresh natural greenness, rich floral quality and creamy depth of Tuberose.

Scent type: Floral

Key notes: Tuberose, ylang ylang, jasmine, sandalwood, musk.

Gucci Bloom Profumo Di Fiori, 50ml, $155

Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia

A delicate balance of ripened pears, with a hint of freesia and patchouli, this is the perfect warm-weather scent. Jo Malone scents are some of the most unique scents I have smelt. My favourite part them is that you can so easily layer them with other scents to create something fresh and different.

Scent type: Fruity and floral

Key notes: Pear, white freesia, rose, quince, rhubarb, patchouli, amber and white musk.

Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia Cologne, 100ml, $204

Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous

The name says it all really. Some days you just want to smell fucking fabulous and now there’s a perfume that can make that happen. While summer scents are typically fresh and floral, it can be nice to have something darker and muskier and sexier and this is my summer pick for that exact reason. Spritz on this decadent array of notes and savour the collision of clary sage and fresh lavender, which command attention with a little aromatic foreplay before delectable bitter almond and vanilla inflections infuse the air with richness.

Scent type: Oriental and musk

Key notes: Almond bitter oil, tonka resinoid, orris accord, cashmeran, leather accord and clary sage oil.

Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous, 50ml, $480

Vilhelm Parfumerie Mango Skin Eau De Parfum

Inspired by a South African backdrop, this scent is ripe with fresh mango, blackberries and black pepper.  Behind the fruit notes, a complex cocktail of wild orris, black lotus, jasmine, patchouli, vanilla and a hint of pink sugar surface and will, most certainly, keep you coming back for more. It’s fresh, but sexy. The kind of sweet that lifts you up.

Scent type: Fruity and Floral

Key notes: Blackberries, mango, black pepper, wild orris, black lotus, jasmin, patchouli, vanilla, pink sugar.

Vilhelm Parfumerie Mango Skin Eau De Parfum, 50ml, $240

Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime Perfume Concentrate

Sunlight flickering through the lush green rainforest, with the sound of sparkling waterfalls in the background. Goldfield & Banks is an Australian luxury fragrance brand with some of the most unique and beautiful scents I’ve smelt. Bohemian Lime is an ode to the tropical paradise of Byron Bay, giving you the bougie luxury you want in your life, but might not otherwise have.

Scent type: Citrus, Fresh and Woody

Key notes: Australian finger lime, coriander, Haitian vetiver, cedarwood, Australian sandalwood.

Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime Perfume Concentrate, 100ml, $229
