Shopping for make-up can be problematic. The options are endless, new products seem to launch daily, trends are constantly changing, and it feels like your complexion and skin needs are, too. That, and the fact that hyped products don’t always live up to their claims, makes finding the right product a challenge.
If there’s one group of women who are across all the options, brands, cult products and trusted classics – it’s make-up artists. We asked three clever boss ladies who have been doing make-up in and around Canberra for years, to share their favourite product – the one they can’t live without. Keep scrolling for their tried-and-tested make-up buys: the ones you know you can rely on to deliver results. Add these to your next beauty haul asap…
“My favourite product of all time – and something I can’t live without – is the Keira Palette by Harlotte Cosmetics,” Diana tells us. “This go-to product, titled The Grab-And-Glow Palette, is a one-stop shop and travel companion for girls who want everything in one easily accessible palette.
“It comprises of a mix of 5 different warm, earth-toned eyeshadows, from nudes to deep warm browns, which covers all your daily needs, and your night-time smoke outs too. Then on top of that it has a bronzer, highlighter and blush to add the natural contours and luminescence back into your skin after foundation, which often fades you out.
“These pressed powders are all intermixable, meaning your highlighter can be your shimmery eye shadow, or your blush can be a wash of peachy goodness on your eyelids for a natural Sunday brunch look – your ‘no make-up make-up’ sorted!”

“The Lanolips Tinted Lip Balms are nourishing, non-sticky, natural, gorgeous and from an iconic Aussie brand. I love that they include SPF but don’t taste funny at all. I personally have most of the shades – my favourites being Rhubarb and Perfect Nude.
“For clients, I use these as toppers over lip liner when we do strong liner looks or classic smoked-out eyes as it adds extra moisture and movement rather than high gloss. If you love a glowy look, I love using the Rhubarb shade as a soft blush over tinted moisturiser or a fresh face (SPF!), and nothing more than mascara and this baby on lips and cheeks!”

“My favourite make-up product would have to be Strobe Cream from Mac Cosmetics,” says Angela. “It’s a lightweight, illuminating cream – I absolutely adore how versatile it is! You can apply it to bare skin for a fresh summer complexion; apply underneath or mixed into foundation for a ‘glow-from-within’; or over foundation for an extra pop before highlighter.
“I use it on myself and my clients religiously, I honestly can’t live without it.”
