The haircut that looks good on everyone, according to a Canberra hairdresser

Okay, so there’s nothing ground-breaking about wanting to make a drastic change to your hair at the end of winter. (We know, it’s not technically the end of winter, but let’s pretend.) And if there was ever a time for a fresh, fun, full-of-possibilities new hairstyle, the time is now. (Are you done yet, 2020?)

If you’ve been flirting with the idea of a new ’do for a while, but can’t quite pull the trigger, we might have found the reason to book that appointment. In a quest to find a haircut that’s universally flattering, we turned to one of the talented hairdressers at Lexi Bannister Hair in Manuka. Amanda Greene, who has been styling hair for over 15 years, has seen more than a few trends come and go. We asked her what her pick for the haircut that works on almost everyone.

“Currently, the most sort-after style is what I call the textured middy,” Amanda tells us. “This style can be tailored to suit almost any hair type by altering the length and/or the amount of layering and internal texture. The look sits square around the collarbone with a textured edge, a disconnected layer around the face (how short will depend on the face shape), and long, textured layers throughout. Combining the convenience of ponytail length, and the freshness of the bob, the textured middy will suit almost everyone.

“We are totally sold on the textured midi, it’s the answer to going shorter while still maintaining a ponytail length. Need more convincing? We trawled through way too many Pintrest boards to find 14 reasons to give this style a go. Take them to your next hair appointment for inspo. You’re welcome!
