Since marrying a prince 12 years ago (no biggie), HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has captured the minds of many Australian women. Her glamour, grace, intelligence and down-to-earth manner have made her transformation from Tasmanian girl to Dutch royalty appear effortless.
Today, 12 years since her first Australian Vogue cover, Mary uses her worldwide platform to draw attention to causes she cares passionately about: gender equality and sustainability. According to Vogue’s editor, Edwina McCann, the Princess is “knowledgeable, fiercely intelligent and well-informed about the issues. The Crown Princess does her homework. She is making her mark as a world leader and passionate advocate in these areas. With her energy and drive I suspect this is still only the beginning of the enormous contribution she will make.” More in Edwina’s editor’s letter on Vogue.
The images, unsurprisingly, are stunning. Shot by legendary photographer Mario Testino, at home in Copenhagen, the Princess is alongside her smiling family – Crown Prince Frederik and their young children Christian, 10, Isabella, 9, and twins Josephine and Vincent, 5.
The interview is compelling, the images breathtaking. The August issue of Vogue AU is out today.
