It’s a product that can give you so much confidence. The feeling of a flawless complexion and the right base in which to apply the rest of your make up can mean a great start to the day. But it can be a challenge to choose the right colour, consistency and tone for your skin type.
So we’ve rounded up six of our favourite foundations. They all deliver even, smooth results, they’re all long-wear formulas, they all come in a wide range of shades, and they’re all long-wear formulas so they last longer then your first coffee on a Monday.
Clinique Chubby Stick, $50, is Clinique’s most versatile foundation. Whether you’re using it for touch-ups, light coverage or building it up for a full-face finish, it’s an excellent choice. Also great for use as a highlighter or contouring product, this portable foundation stick is one to try!
Similar in consistency and coverage, Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, $67, is a fantastic choice. Nars is known for their foundations and this new addition to the range makes it easy to see why. Skin tone is visibly evened out, and a luminous glow is added to the coverage. Suitable for normal, normal-to-dry and very-dry skin types, it’s our new go-to daily foundation.
Giorgio Armani Designer Lift Foundation, $98, is inspired by the properties of lycra – stretchy, pliable, smooth… The magic in this formula is the way your skin feels upon application: soft, supple, firm. It works to correct skin tone, leaving you with a soft glow. It’s a light formula, but can be layered to give more coverage, and the matte finish is ideal for everyday wear.
Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup, $89, is their original, long-lasting foundation. The lush, creamy texture blends easily and evenly into skin, and while it gives medium-to-full coverage, it has a lightweight feel. The powdery finish also has a very delicate glow, making it a great choice for those wanting a super-subtle shine.
Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Makeup, $125, is a splurge – but this super-luxe foundation feels like a million dollars once on your skin. The moisturising formula leaves skin looking and feeling glowy, and provides medium to full coverage. The genius of this one? It’s a hard-working multi-tasker. Like most of the Lauder range, this product includes anti-ageing properties in the ingredients: vitamins and anti-oxidants work to smooth fine lines and give skin a youthful fullness.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15, $70, has comfort as it’s number-one advantage. The oil-free formula is enhanced with shea butter with a gel-base, which works to keep skin feeling hydrated all day – not just upon application. With a 12-hour lifetime, it’s one of the most long-lasting formulas available. The added SPF makes it one of our all-time faves.
