Season upon season, the felt fedora holds it place as one of the most sought-after and easy-to-wear accessories. We love it through summer for its boho-chic feel and the warm texture carries it through to the cooler months, the perfect partner to a winter coat… did we mention it can cover a bad hair day, too?
If you’re yet to try this stylish hat, don’t worry, you haven’t missed the boat. The fedora is an outfit addition that suits everyone: proving it’s diversity, it’s got celebrity fans from current model, it-girl Mimi Elashiry to HRH the Duchess of Cambridge – that’s right, an actual Princess rocking a felt fedora (on the cover of Vogue, no less!).
Similar to the deep green, wool-felt hat worn by Kate on the June issue of UK Vogue, the fedora can be categorised by its crown crease, soft texture and structured brim. With classic winter shades in deep red, midnight blue and neutral bone, an accompanying basic black ribbon give it a hippie-chic feel. This season, as the style continues to grow in popularity, it’s not uncommon to see decorate bands in different colours and textures.
Although sister-styles have evolved (that’s a whole separate post…) including the fedoras floppy friend, and the summer evolution of the straw fedora, we’ve found 10 of the more classic styles, pick one to add to your winter wardrobe…
